The establishment of a chapel in the 15th century by will of King Henry V... The Tudor period ownership as a timber framed house... Leading into it's ownership and creation of the familiar Palladian Georgian style house by Caribbean St. Kitts and Nevis sugar plantation owner and slave trader Samuel Greatheed... This leads the reader right through it's ownership by the Heber-Percy family, it's use as a Red Cross Voluntary Aid Detachment Hospital in the First World War and during the Second World War as a Boys Home by the Waifs and Strays Society... Concluding "Recollections of a Country Mansion" details the house and estate post-war, it's decline into ruin, the tragic fire in 1992 and how it's now cared for, used and preserved right up to present day...

A chapter is also dedicated to the story of 'The Last Resident' of Guys Cliffe House, the very last person to call Guys Cliffe House a home... Roy Robinson came to Guys Cliffe House as a 13yr old boy in 1943, under the care of the Waifs and Strays Society and it's master Paul Field, who later went on to found The Childrens Family Trust (www.thecft.org.uk)... Roy had previously run away from each and every boys home, but never ran away from Guys Cliffe House... He was the last to be admitted to the Boys Home and the last to leave... Right up until his recent passing Roy still regularly visited Guys Cliffe House and cherishes those happy memories of his childhood spent exploring the house and it's sprawling estate lands...
